Intermediate gymnastics Sep 30, 2005 This dvd was presented in a conscise and easy to follow, understandable format. It shows moves in slow motion as well as natural movement so you can really see each action. The coach explained why he does things the way he does.
He shows ways to help his gymnasts overcome fears of an apparatus. We really enjoyed it and bought the beginners and advanced dvd's too. We also showed our gymnast coach who also found it to be of benefit.

Helpful, but nothing too innovative Aug 22, 2005 I am a team gymnastics coach, and I am always looking for new, innovative training tips. Most of this was review for me, but Steve Nunno had some good ideas that I have implemented since watching. I wasn't impressed with the caliber of the athletes (I hope mine will have better form!), but this was an interesting one-time watch. I would also not recommend this to athletes as a training tool. The skills are explained, but not broken down enough to show how to train for good form, and most of the drills should not be done without direct supervision of an experienced coach.
For example, back handsprings on beam are addressed like this:
Have the athlete start on a line, then a floor beam with panel mats, floor beam, high beam. Yes, we know that, but what makes a handspring technically sound? What are some drills?
I ordered the advanced dvd, also, which was more informative, but very similar to the intermediate in that skills are shown in slow and fast-motion, but the mechanics of the skills are not reviewed.

Intermediate Gymnastic Jul 27, 2005 This was a gift to my grand daughter who already had one like it so she did not want this one and I returned it. So to be honest I do not know how to rate it.
